Movie Review - Gulaal Set in the fictional Rajpur town of modern-day Rajasthan, Gulaal is rife with stories of student politics, a secret local rebellion for an independent Rajputana state and love taking it forward. The meek Dileep Singh (Raj Singh Chaudhary) is an idealistic man who gets caught in the whirlpool of student politics. Bollywood gets yet another talented actor in Raj Singh Chaudhari who happens to be the co-writer of the film's story
Movie Review - Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge DRJ (meaning 'you'd keep on searching) makes one intensify his search to find out as to what the director was aiming at his fans. If you are looking for intelligent comedy flicks like the Amol Palekar-starrer 'Golmaal', you might as well find that your hopes are once again dashed by this film.
Movie Review - 13 B A film from the stable of national award winner Vikram K. Kumar, '13 B' is a sort of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun having been shot in a Bhoot backdrop. Though there aren't any genuinely frightening Hollywood-like moments, Kumar manages to infuse enough creepiness to keep us guessing. The new twist on reality television, with characters on television foretelling life and even the dialogue and gestures, somewhat beats the logic.
Movie Review - Karma Aur Holi Directed by Manish Gupta, 'Karma Aur Holi' looks like a film planned on the inter-relationship complexities and dark secrets of high-society folks, but the wafer-thin script, amateurish direction and shoddy performances by the lead actor make it a no-show. More 'action' can be caught sifting through TV channels than sitting through this boring flick.
Movie Review - Delhi 6 Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan), an NRI, returns to India to fulfill his grandmothers (Waheeda Rahman) wish of wanting to die at her ancestral home in Delhi. The whole set up is a different world to Roshan, who gets up close with the harsh realities of life in the Indian society in the form of casteism, class-family feuds, caged birds and daughters, unfulfilled dreams and the kaala bandar.
Movie Review - Billu Billu, a remake of Malayalam super hit Katha Parayumbol starring Mammootty, is based on the legendary Krishna-Sudama friendship story. The credits list has the name of the Bollywood Badsha SRK but be reminded that Billu is basically Irrfan Khan's film. He lives the character and deftly handles the emotional sequences. The specialty of his acting is he makes it look so natural. Go to the movie to watch an emotional drama and you might enjoy it.
Movie Review - Luck By Chance Farhan Akhtar, son of Javed Akhtar and who gave us the mesmerizing hit in 'Dil Chhahta Hai' a few years ago, is debuting as hero in 'Luck By Chance' that marks the directorial debut of his sister. The film is a tale of two strugglers in Sona (Konkona Sen Sharma) and Vikram (Farhan Akhtar) who come to Mumbai with the hope of becoming 'actors'.
Movie Review - Dev D 'Dev D' is the 13th film to be made on Sarat Chandra's famous 1917 novel and shifts Devdas to Punjab and New Delhi.' Dev, played by Abhay Deol, is the spoilt brat of a rich and powerful zameendar.' Paro, played perfectly by newcomer Mahi Gill, is the daughter of their manager.' The love and affection between the two transcends from childhood into adulthood.
Movie Review - Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye It's amazing how time and again Bollywood get into the same old style of film making, not bothering to even make the slightest of alterations in the basic script in order to make the film a bit more interesting to the viewers. The gorgeous Raima Sen tries her best to do justice to her role while Randeep Hooda merely appears in many costumes as if he is on a ramp-walk. Arbaaz Khan is perfect as a cheating husband.
Movie Review - Karzzzz Himesh's tremendous popularity amongst masses, its chartbusting musical score and the fact that it's a remake of a much-loved film will only lure masses in hordes. At the box-office, the film should fetch a thunderous start and in due course, should be amongst the biggest achievers of the year in terms of business. Reincarnation themes have a super-successful track record, right from KARZ to KARAN ARJUN to OM SHANTI OM. KARZZZZ is just a latest addition to this list. |

Interview - Mahalaxmi Iyer on Rahman Earlier people criticized him as the keyboard man only but for singers he gave us superb melodies to sing and the way he records a number even the singer doesn?t know how it will sound in the end and we end up being surprised by his virtuosity. He completely deserves the recognition he has got and it'll help all of India.
Interview - Abhay Deol He's different from the Deol brothers Bobby and Sunny in that he's not as flamboyant. But Abhay Deol has proved that everything works in Bollywood. And nothing succeeds like success. "I don't think anyone can make an actor. It is an inherent quality that one has to have. I think everybody can act but not everybody can get to be an actor. If you can get somebody to ignore then camera and be themselves, they can act. "
Interview - Zoya Akhtar Shes either inherited everything from her parents or shes just born lucky. Zoya Akhtar who has just released her film Luck by chance is lucky because everyone in the industry and audiences have been waiting with bated breath and a cartload of expectations for her film to release. That is strange because she had no precedent that she set, yet one expects the best from her.
Interview - Devki Pandit I was brought up to believe that one must use different genres to express ones voice there is a Sufi number also a very peppy number which I've never done before a lovely romantic number too our comfort level grew Israr Ansari the lyricist was someone I hadn't known except that he had done work in films.
Interview - Farhan Akhtar As if his multi tasking in films wasn't enough he's invaded television too and is hosting a show 'Oye it's Friday' on NDTV Imagine. Aamir to his credit was the first guest to come after the November Bombay attacks. Nobody was in that frame of mind to go there and be like ha ha hee hee' digress into random things etc. The timing of his episode, also because Ghajini was to release, it could not be postponed, so for his pre publicity thing, it had to be then.
Interview - Shilpa Shetty This is a good thing, playing host. I want to make it very different from the usual TV hosts. I am an actress and I bring that to the show. I want the audience to be curious about
everything, what I'll wear etc.
Interview - Goldie Behl (director of Drona) For me it was dream come true. Also the affect that Abhishek and Jaya aunty were together was really a beautiful opportunity to have them in the film. It's an adventure film and adventure is a genre I haven't tried. It is enjoyable in its own way. Priyanka is delightful completely. It's an unusual role for her.
Interview - Prity Bhutani Some are born with acting skill others get it by their struggle. But, in both cases only those people succeed who work hard. Prity Bhutani is an actress who has made her mark through the road of struggle. Starting with Jani Dushman and Ladies Tailor she is now part of bigger films. Her upcoming films are Khalbali Hai Khalbali, Vikalp, Ajay Devgan starter 'Golmal hai -2' and Ek Power of Money.
Interview - Shantanu Moitra Moitra speaks about his work with Benegal.Shreyas Talpade plays this letter writer who is very creative in his letter writing and keeps imagining himself in the situations he is writing about and the people he is writing to so it becomes like lyrics within lyrics. It is very lovely and Swanand has risen to the occasion beautifully. It's been fun.
Interview - Madhushree on Laagi Lagan Shes quite a favorite with composers like AR Rahman but work is not anyones monopoly today so play backing offers are few and far between but Madhushree is not the kind to sit back and relax, so she comes to listeners with anew album singing thumris. |
